Pelosi Statement on New CAP Report on Premium Hikes from GOP Tax Scam for Rich

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released this statement on a new state-by-state Center for American Progress report comparing the average tax benefit to working families to the health insurance premium increases, due to the Republican tax law's provisions to sabotage the health insurance marketplaces:

"Six months ago, Republicans decided to raise Americans' health premiums in order to hand even bigger tax breaks to the wealthiest one percent. Today, a new analysis shows the cruel consequences of the GOP tax scam for the rich in rising health premiums for families across America

"According to this report, the national average annual benchmark plan premiums for a family of four will rise by $1,990 in 2019 from the health care sabotage Republicans put in their tax bill alone.

"Again and again, Republicans have worked to give tax breaks to the wealthiest at the expense of health care for seniors and working families. Democrats will continue to hold Republicans accountable for ransacking Americans' health security in the name of their tax scam for the rich."
