Pelosi Statement on June Jobs Report

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after the Department of Labor announced that the economy added 287,000 jobs in June. With businesses adding 265,000 jobs last month, June represents the 76th consecutive month of private sector job growth.

“June’s strong jobs numbers show continued progress for our economy. We must build on this progress, and make robust investments that will create more good-paying jobs in all our communities.

“Instead, Republicans are about to leave town for almost two months without having lifted a finger to create jobs or raise wages for hard-working Americans. They have done nothing to strengthen the economy for working families, and sought to stack the deck for their special interest friends at every turn.

“Where are the jobs bills? Hard-working Americans cannot afford more of House Republicans’ relentless and reckless special interest obstruction. Republicans should join Democrats to create more good-paying jobs, grow Americans’ paychecks, and invest in the future of our nation.”
