Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement this evening on the Strengthening Employment Clusters To Organize Regional Success (SECTORS) Act — part of Democrats’ national manufacturing strategy. The bill, which passed by voice vote, supports industry partnerships to develop and implement plans to train workers and help them advance in high-demand and emerging industries:
“Today, the House passed the SECTORS Act to create and save good-paying American jobs – and to restore the words ‘made in America’ – helping to lay the foundation for growth now and in the years to come.
“The SECTORS Act brings together business owners, unions, educators, and workforce leaders to develop plans to train Americans in industries critical to our economic prosperity. Through this partnership, the bill works to align training initiatives with the demands of industry, link workers with employment opportunities, and equip them with the skills they need to compete, succeed, and thrive. And it offers crucial sectors – such as manufacturing, health care, information technology, and renewable energy – a steady stream of workers prepared for 21st century jobs.
“I commend Congressman Dave Loebsack for his leadership in passing this legislation, and I thank all of my colleagues for supporting progress for our nation’s working families and businesses.”
