Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today in honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day:

“Each Holocaust Remembrance Day, we reflect on the memories of millions of men, women and children murdered for who they were and what they believed. We pay tribute to the stories of the dead and those who survived. In their name, we renew our vow to never forget, never stand silent, and never again permit such ghastly hate to grow in our world.

“This day reminds us of the terrible cost of bigotry, scapegoating and the hate-laced language that all too often metastasizes into unfathomable violence. The warning of history is too clear to allow complacency in the face of hate.

“We must be fully engaged in confronting anti-Semitism and all other forms of prejudice and hatred. The memory of the dead and the call of ‘Never Again’ summons each of us to greater vigilance and action. As we pay tribute to the millions silenced forever, we pledge never to be silent ourselves in the fight against hate, injustice and discrimination.”
