Pelosi Statement on Congressman Dennis Cardoza

San Francisco – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement today after Congressman Dennis Cardoza announced his resignation from Congress effective midnight August 15th:

"Congressman Dennis Cardoza has been a valued member of our caucus and the Congress and his leadership will be missed.

"As a leader in the Blue Dog Caucus and a powerful moderate, Congressman Cardoza has been a consensus builder. He has worked tirelessly on behalf of fiscal responsibility and his efforts were essential to the Democratic efforts to make pay-as-you-go budget rules the rule of the House and the law of the land.

"Congressman Cardoza saw the need for national action to stem the foreclosure crisis firsthand in his own district. He has been a dogged advocate in demanding action, progress, and accountability in addressing the housing needs for the people of California’s Central Valley and for all Americans.

“His constituents and his colleagues are grateful for the service of Congressman Dennis Cardoza. We wish him and his family well.”
