Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after President Obama appointed Cecilia Muñoz as the new Director of the Domestic Policy Council:

“Cecilia Muñoz is a talented, committed public servant with a record of strong advocacy and a firm dedication to an agenda of economic opportunity, jobs, and fairness – and the right choice to serve as President Obama’s new Director of the Domestic Policy Council.

“From the National Council of La Raza to the White House, Cecilia Muñoz has developed strong relationships with Members of Congress in Washington and activists nationwide, and a sterling reputation as a powerful voice on behalf of comprehensive, compassionate immigration reform. Her appointment reflects the President’s strong and ongoing commitment to diversity across his administration.

“As the President’s chief domestic policy advisor, Democrats in Congress look forward to working with her on the top priorities of the American people: creating jobs, strengthening the middle class, growing our economy, and putting the American dream in reach for all Americans.”
