Pelosi Statement on Laguna Honda Hospital Medicare Recertification

San Francisco – Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi issued this statement on the announcement that Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center was approved for Medicare recertification:

“Laguna Honda has long been a pillar of the health and well-being for generations of San Francisco families.  The full recertification by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will ensure Laguna Honda continues to provide life-saving care for patients with critical and complex medical and behavioral health conditions, regardless of their financial means.

“This announcement is a reflection of the expertise, hard work and compassion of facility staff as well as so many dedicated leaders in our City including Mayor London Breed, Dr. Grant Colfax, Supervisor Myrna Melgar and City Attorney David Chiu who quickly and effectively mobilized to protect this indispensable institution.  We are grateful to Laguna Honda's devoted staff including Dr. Roland Pickens and all those who came together to ensure Laguna Honda will continue serving our most vulnerable San Franciscans for decades to come.”
