Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today following House passage of the bipartisan Government Efficiency, Effectiveness and Performance Act, which gives Congress new tools to reduce wasteful and ineffective spending and cut the deficit by assessing the performance of federal agencies. The bill passed by a voice vote:

"Today, the House continued its commitment to fiscal discipline by passing legislation to ensure responsible budgeting, and effective, efficient government. This bill gives lawmakers more tools to make informed decisions, produce better results for the American people, and invest in initiatives that work.

"The Government Efficiency, Effectiveness and Performance Act follows in the footsteps of statutory PAYGO legislation signed into law earlier this year. I commend Congressman Henry Cuellar and the Blue Dogs for their leadership in passing this critical measure."
