Pelosi Statement on Five Years Since the Tree of Life Synagogue Shooting
Washington, D.C. – Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi released the following statement marking five years since the shooting at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh:
“Five years ago, eleven beautiful men and women were murdered in an appalling hate-fueled attack at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. As our nation remembers the deadliest antisemitic massacre in American history, our hearts remain with the families and community who continue to bear the pain of this devastating tragedy.
“Over the last year, America has seen an unprecedented surge in antisemitic attacks and violent extremism. Our solidarity now is as important as ever, as American Jewish communities are in agony watching Israel under brutal attack by Hamas terrorists — and many are fearful for their own lives. We must continue to forcefully condemn antisemitism in all forms.
“As we remember the assault on Tree of Life, we continue to mourn the lives lost in Maine and recommit to ending the bloodshed of gun violence. We must ensure that such an atrocity never happens again.”
