Pelosi Statement on California’s 11th Congressional District Election

San Francisco — Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi issued this statement on the results of the election for California’s 11th Congressional District:

“Connie Chan brought courage, conviction and a deep love for San Francisco to this campaign. As a working mom, a public servant, and an immigrant, she gave voice to families whose struggles she knows firsthand. I was proud to support her, and I am so proud of the campaign she ran.

“To Connie and the volunteers, workers and community leaders who stood with her: your work matters beyond this election. The people you brought together and the voices you lifted up will continue to strengthen our city. San Francisco needs your organizing, your advocacy and your determination to build a better future.

“I congratulate Scott Wiener on his election to the Congress. Representing San Francisco is an extraordinary honor and a profound responsibility. My office stands ready to assist in the transition, and I wish him success in service for the people of our city.

“For nearly four decades, San Franciscans have entrusted me with the privilege of being their voice in the House. My gratitude is boundless, and my confidence in our City’s future remains strong. Our work for a fairer, more just America continues.”
