Washington, D. C. â€" Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Minority Leader John Boehner held a press availability this afternoon with other members of the House leadership following their meeting to discuss a bipartisan response to current economic conditions. Below are the Speaker’s opening remarks:

â€Å"Good afternoon. Thank you for being here. I'm pleased to join Leader Boehner and other members of the House leadership today to talk about how we can work together in a bipartisan way to have a stimulus package to relieve the hardships of America's working families.

â€Å"I'm optimistic that we can go forward in this manner, and hope that it can be done in a way that is timely, that is targeted, and that is temporary.

â€Å"Again, I thank the Republican leader of the House, Mr. Boehner, for his very constructive ideas. I think our meeting was very productive and look forward to continuing the conversation.”
