Washington, D.C. - Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement today after attending a ceremony at the White House during which President Obama signed into law the Veterans Health Care Budget Reform and Transparency Act.

"In signing the Veterans Health Care Budget Reform and Transparency Act, President Obama is standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Congress in fulfilling our obligation to make sure that veterans get the care and support they have earned.

This legislation - the number one priority for national veterans groups - ensures sufficient, timely, and predictable funding to care for those who have worn our nation's uniform. By authorizing Congress to approve investments in medical care for our veterans one year in advance, the VA can more effectively plan for the future and our veterans will receive high quality medical care when they need it.

Our nation's veterans serve overseas so we can have safety and security at home. Their sacrifice is a tribute to America's ideals. Their heroism is a symbol of our country's strength and resolve. Their actions are a reflection of our values.

Every soldier and sailor, airman and Marine, deserves nothing less than our full-fledged support. We owe them each a debt of gratitude for their service and sacrifice. And we must continue to uphold the solemn promise to the members of our armed forces: just as the military pledged to leave no solider behind on the battlefield, we will leave no veteran behind when they come home."
