Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today on House Republicans' 50th vote to repeal or undermine the Affordable Care Act and on the Obama Administration's announcement of new policies to smooth the health care transition for consumers and employers:

"Today, Americans are witnessing a tale of two visions for our country. The first vision comes courtesy of congressional Republicans, who have just taken their 50th vote to repeal or undermine the Affordable Care Act and weaken the economic security of the middle class. This latest Republican repeal bill would raise premiums and increase the ranks of the uninsured.

"At the same time, we are seeing a vision of smart, common-sense action from the Obama Administration to make this law work better for consumers and better serve small businesses. These steps will simplify reporting requirements for larger employers, improve choices and flexibility for individuals, and stabilize premiums for patients. This announcement shows another way that the law is working for the American people: with four million signed up on the Marketplaces, 3.1 million young adults covered on their parents' plans, and millions more securing insurance through the expansion of Medicaid.

"Four years ago, Congress passed the Affordable Care Act to make health care a right, not a privilege, for all Americans. In the years since, Republicans have voted 50 times to turn back the clock – and Americans have had enough. It's time for Republicans to end their obsession with upending health reform and work with Democrats to strengthen it."
