Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi announced today that she has named Evangeline George as her new Deputy Communications Director. George, a native of Marietta, Georgia, has served on Pelosi’s staff since 2009 and currently serves as Press Secretary. George also served as Communications Director to Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney’s congressional campaign in the 2012 cycle.
“Time and again, Evangeline has proved she has the savvy and determination to get the job done,” Pelosi said. “As press secretary she has consistently demonstrated her ability and excellence. In this new role, she will continue to serve as a key spokeswoman and messenger for House Democrats, carrying forward our agenda of opportunity and fairness for all.”
George holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Georgia, and lives on Capitol Hill. She replaces Ashley Etienne who is departing for the White House to serve as Special Assistant to the President and Director of Communications for the Cabinet.
“As Ashley departs for the White House, we thank her for her service in the House of Representatives and spectacular work on behalf of House Democrats,” Pelosi said. “As part of our message team, she’s been integral in the formulation and roll out of our women’s economic agenda, regional strategy on immigration reform, and many other critical initiatives. We wish her much success in this new role.”
