Pelosi Leads Delegation to the Middle East

Doha, Qatar -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi led a Congressional delegation to Qatar today, where the Members will visit the commanders and service members stationed at the Al Udeid Air Base outside of Doha. Qatar serves as a base for U.S. CENTCOM Forward Headquarters, which oversees military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Pelosi will also meet with His Highness Emir Sheikh Hama Bin Khalifa Al-Thani to discuss U.S.-Qatari relations and security challenges throughout the region.
"Our men and women in uniform serve with bravery, courage, and an unwavering commitment to the safety and security of the American people," Pelosi said. "We honor their sacrifice and the sacrifice of their families, and we are grateful for their extraordinary service to our country and their dedication to the mission."
Speaker Pelosi is joined by Susan Davis of California, Chair of the Armed Services Subcommittee on Military Personnel; Madeleine Bordallo of Guam, Member of the Armed Services Committee; Niki Tsongas of Massachusetts, Member of the Armed Services Committee; and Donna Edwards of Maryland, Member of the Science and Technology Committee.
