Doha, Qatar -- Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement upon the arrival of a bipartisan Congressional delegation to Doha, Qatar this afternoon:

"On every official trip abroad, we meet with our brave men and women in uniform. Many of our troops serving in Qatar have also served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and we express our deep gratitude for their service and sacrifice.

"Our Congressional delegation is pleased to be in Qatar to thank the Qataris for their hospitality to our troops, and to receive briefings from senior American military and diplomatic officials as well as Qatari officials. This evening, our delegation met with His Highness Sheikh Tamin bin Hamid al-Thani, the Heir Apparent, to discuss U.S-Qatar relations and regional security issues.

"Qatar is the host to the U.S. military at Al Udeid airbase and other facilities, which serve as logistics, command and basing hubs for the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) areas of operations including Iraq and Afghanistan."
