Pelosi: ‘Crimes Motivated by Hate Will Not be Tolerated in Our Country’

Washington, D.C. â€" Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement after the Senate passed an amendment on hate crimes prevention. The House passed similar legislation in May:

"I am pleased that the Senate passed the hate crimes prevention amendment with a strong bipartisan vote. This bipartisan vote echoes the House’s vote in May, sending a strong message that crimes motivated by hate will not be tolerated in our country.

â€Å"I am committed to getting this legislation to the President’s desk as soon as possible and I look forward to working with the Senate to find the best way to achieve this goal.”
