San Francisco â€" House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today as civic and business leader Lou Giraudo and she called California Pacific Medical Center and SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West back to the negotiating table to resolve their ongoing dispute:

â€Å"In separate conversations with Dr. Martin Brotman, CEO of California Pacific Medical Center, and Sal Rosselli, President of SEIU â€" United Healthcare Workers West, I am encouraged that there may be prospects for a settlement in the ongoing strike at CPMC. Both Dr. Brotman and Mr. Rosselli have the health care of the patients as their first priority.

â€Å"I commend civic leader Lou Giraudo for his tireless efforts to bring the parties together and to facilitate negotiations. I am pleased he has agreed to mediate the dispute because he has the confidence of CPMC and SEIU.

â€Å"Mr. Giraudo and I have called the parties back to the bargaining table tomorrow and are hopeful that the issues in the CPMC dispute and the potential strike at St. Luke’s will be resolved this week.”
