Pelosi Announces Committee Memberships and Appointments to the President's Export Council

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced today that the House Democratic Steering Committee will recommend to the Democratic Caucus appointments to the House Agriculture Committee, House Appropriations Committee, House Armed Services Committee, House Foreign Affairs Committee, House Judiciary Committee, House Natural Resources Committee, and House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. :

The full Democratic Caucus is expected to approve these recommendations at its meeting tomorrow.

The Steering Committee approved the following new Committee members:

Agriculture

• Congressman Bill Owens of New York

Appropriations

• Congressman Patrick Murphy of Pennsylvania

Armed Services

• Congressman John Garamendi of California

• Congressman Leonard Boswell of Iowa

Foreign Affairs

• Congressman Ted Deutch of Florida

Judiciary

• Congressman Ted Deutch of Florida

• Congressman Jared Polis of Colorado

Natural Resources

• Congressman Ben Ray Lujan of New Mexico

Transportation and Infrastructure

• Congressman Hank Johnson of Georgia

Speaker Pelosi also announced her appointments to the President’s Export Council, the principal national advisory committee on international trade. The Council will advise the President on policies and initiatives that improve U.S. trade performance; promote expanded exports; strengthen our economy on the global stage; and address trade-related challenges among the business, industrial, agricultural, labor, and government communities.
