Pelosi: $38 Million On the Way for San Francisco Transportation Projects

Washington, D.C. â€" House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi announced today the release of more than $38 million by the Department of Transportation for San Francisco Bay Area transportation projects.
â€Å"These funds will help San Francisco continue to provide alternative transportation, improve air quality, and reduce congestion,†Pelosi said. â€Å"I’m pleased to have been able to secure this continued federal investment in our community.â€Â
The funds are the latest installment of transportation appropriations for fiscal year 2005.
Pelosi announced the following San Francisco projects will receive the funds:
- $34 million to complete construction contracts on the BART-SFO extension, including line, trackwork and systems, and the design-build of the Millbrae station and parking structure.
- $3.4 million for the City and County of San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (Muni) for preliminary engineering and environmental studies for the Central Subway.
- $1.35 million for the construction of the new San Francisco Muni Islais Creek bus maintenance facility. The facility will clean, fuel, repair, and store 135 buses, including the alternative fuel fleet. The project includes administrative offices and improvements to the shores of Islais Creek.
