Strengthening our Economy, Remembering 9/11
Strengthening our Economy
After more than 8 months in the majority, House Republicans have yet to produce a plan to revitalize our economy and put Americans back to work. Instead, they have voted ten times against Democratic proposals to revitalize manufacturing in America, create new good-paying jobs, and make our nation more secure.
Last night, President Obama offered a clear path to help small businesses succeed and hire, provide tax relief for our workers, rebuild America, and provide aid to those who have lost their jobs through no fault of their own. The American Jobs Act will not only put Americans back to work, it will be fully paid for.
Congress must act quickly to provide immediate assistance to our nation’s economy and to implement initiatives to create jobs for the American people.
Last year I was proud to join the groundbreaking of the Transbay Transit Center, which begins work on its new foundation this week; continuing to create good-paying jobs for San Franciscans.
Remembering 9/11
On Sunday, I will join with firefighters and police officers in San Francisco to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. We will always remember the courage of the first responders on that fateful day.
As a tribute to those we lost on 9/11, this Sunday Americans will join together to participate in service projects across the country. More information on the National Day of Service and Remembrance can be found online at https://www.serve.gov/.
