Fighting for American Jobs
Fighting for American Jobs
One year ago, President Barack Obama presented a clear plan to create jobs now and grow our economy. The American Jobs Act offered a clear path forward to help small businesses succeed and hire, provide tax relief for our workers, rebuild America, provide aid to those who lost their jobs through no fault of their own, and put our police officers, firefighters, teachers and veterans to work. Under pressure from Democrats, Republicans have passed a few pieces of this key legislation. However, they continue to block the most critical provisions, including new tax cuts for small businesses and jumpstarting critical infrastructure projects.
Instead of standing in the way of job creation and economic growth, House Republicans must join with President Obama and Democrats to reduce the unemployment rate and restore American job security.

Meeting the Needs of our Veterans
In every generation, America sends our sons and daughters to distant shores to fight on behalf of our freedom, our values, and our safety and security. We owe our deepest debt of gratitude to those who give their lives for our country; and we must do everything in our power to care for those who return safely home. Last week, the Obama Administration announced new measures to expand suicide prevention efforts and enhance mental health and substance abuse services for veterans, service members, and their families. This announcement builds upon efforts by the Administration and Democrats to care for and honor those who serve our great nation. More information about the new measures can be found online.
Casework News
Recently, a constituent who had fallen behind on his home mortgage contacted my office seeking assistance in applying for a loan modification. My office, in coordination with several community groups, was able to facilitate communications between the constituent and his lender. Instead of foreclosing on the home, the lender was able to work with the constituent to come to terms that were agreeable to both parties. After several months, the constituent was granted an affordable modification, allowing him to remain in his home. Please visit my website or contact my office at (415) 556-4862 if you are experiencing difficulty with a federal agency.
