Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) today was sworn-in as a member of the 106th Congress, beginning her seventh term in the U.S. House of Representatives. "It is an honor to represent the people of San Francisco and bring their excellent ideas into the public policy debate," Pelosi said.
Rep. Pelosi will continue her service on the House Appropriations Committee as the ranking Democrat on the Subcommittee on Foreign Operations and as a member of the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services and Education. Rep. Pelosi also serves on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
"When people ask me what the three most important issues facing the country are, I always respond 'our children, our children, our children.' In the 106th Congress I will be fighting for our children: the economic security of their families, their access to a solid education, and the preservation of a clean environment in which they can grow and be healthy. I am pleased that these are also the issues at the top of the Democratic agenda for the 106th," Pelosi said.
