Pelosi Statement on 'Do Not Call' Legislation

September 29, 2003

Washington, D.C. -- House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on President Bush's signing today of "Do Not Call" legislation passed by Congress last Thursday:

"Millions of Americans have demanded relief from intrusive telephone solicitations. Nearly every Member of Congress agreed with them. Democrats believe that Americans should be beyond the reach of unwanted sales pitches when they are in the privacy of their own homes.

"It is up to the Bush Administration to implement the overwhelming will of the people."
