Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on the mass shooting at the Fort Lauderdale International Airport in Fort Lauderdale, Florida:

"Today, five Americans lost their lives and many more were wounded in a mass shooting at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. We are grateful for the first responders who are providing aid and comfort to the injured survivors and the families of those who were killed in this gun violence tragedy.

"Our hearts ache for those killed in this senseless attack, and we pray for the swift recovery of all who were wounded. No words can replace the loss of loved ones. No moments of silence can quiet the voices across America calling for action.

"May it be a comfort to the loved ones of those who were killed and the survivors that so many people are holding them in their thoughts at this difficult time."
