Pelosi Statement on Jewish American Heritage Month

Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today in recognition of Jewish American Heritage Month:

"During Jewish American Heritage Month, our nation celebrates the immense contributions that Jewish Americans have made to our nation. We honor and recognize the beauty of the Jewish American communities' achievement, perseverance and strength in the continuing American story.

"This year, we celebrate Jewish American Heritage Month amid a deeply distressing rise in anti-Semitic threats and hate crimes. As we mark this proud heritage month, after a campaign that fanned the flames of bigotry, we must renew our vow to forcefully confront and condemn anti-Semitism wherever it is found.

"Our democracy and our society have been strengthened by generations of Jewish Americans proudly answering the call to repair the world, to pursue justice and to advance the common good. This month, let us match our celebrations with actions to protect the right of every faith to live free from fear and bigotry."
