San Francisco — Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement on the crash of Indonesia Air Asia Flight 8501:

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of all those lost on Indonesia Air Asia Flight 8501. In the midst of the holidays, as we gather together to celebrate with loved ones, we are acutely aware of the pain this tragedy represents.

"The American people stand with all those mourning the passengers and crew, and hope we can be of assistance in the investigation and recovery efforts.

"We hope it is a comfort to the families of the victims that so many around the world share in their sadness at this terrible time."
