San Francisco – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after Governor Jerry Brown and California Legislature leaders announced plans to increase and extend the state's Film and Television Production Tax Credit:

"Today's announcement is great news for California; not only for those in the film and television industries, but also small business owners who help support production professionals. By enhancing the California Film and Television Tax Credit, our state can remain internationally competitive in attracting – and keeping – new projects in these job-creating industries.

"This cost-effective, sensible, and essential competitive film tax credit can help jumpstart California's economy – and attract more film and television projects in Los Angeles, San Francisco and every region throughout our state, which remains the home of the entertainment industry, due to commonsense policies of Governor Brown and legislative leaders willing to put California first.

"California's film production industry is an essential part of our state's cultural history – and economic future – creating a skilled workforce, generating reliable revenue streams, and supporting small businesses and vendors across the state. We are proud of our heritage and excited for the next era to take off with the help of these new resources."
