Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement as the 115th Republican Congress broke the all-time record for the most bills considered under closed rules that prevent Members of Congress from offering amendments that address dangerous flaws in GOP legislation or that deliver on key priorities of American families:
"House Republicans are desperate to prevent the priorities of the American people from receiving a up or down vote in the People's House.
"Under GOP control, only the special interests' agenda gets a vote to move forward. In this Republican Congress, even the most bipartisan priorities of the American people are denied a vote. The needs of seniors and working families, the future of patriotic Dreamers, bipartisan gun violence prevention legislation, and action to restore ethics and accountability to our government are all shut out and shut down by the GOP leadership."
"House Republicans have now set a sad record in the history of our democracy, with sad consequences in the lives of families across America."
