Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement after the House voted to sustain the President’s veto of Republicans’ bill to disapprove the Department of Labor’s fiduciary rule:

“House Republicans would rather help unscrupulous financial advisors prey on Americans' hard-earned retirement savings than hold a vote to keep guns out of the hands of suspected terrorists and criminals.

"The attempt to block the fiduciary rule is a perfect showcase of Republicans’ constant efforts to stack the deck for the special interests and against hard-working Americans. House Republicans will have a hard time explaining why they wanted to allow unscrupulous financial advisors to take advantage of the hard-earned savings of working people.

“House Democrats were proud to sustain the President’s veto and defend the fiduciary rule that guards Americans’ retirement security. Instead of wasting time on their special interest Wall Street agenda, Republicans should give the American people a vote on keeping guns out of the hands of suspected terrorists and criminals. No bill, No break."
