Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement after the Republican Judiciary Committee voted down Democrats' Resolution of Inquiry, introduced by Congressman Jerry Nadler, directing the Department of Justice to provide the House of Representatives with any and all information relevant to an inquiry into President Trump and his associates' conflicts of interest, ethical violations—including the Emoluments Clause—and connections and contacts with Russia:

"The Russians' grip on the Trump Administration must be exposed for the American people to see for themselves. The American people have a right to know how President Trump's vast conflicts of interest and hidden connections to Russia are steering his agenda.

"Republicans are abandoning their responsibility to the American people in order to stonewall on behalf of President Trump. If there's nothing to hide, why are Republicans working so hard to keep the truth from the public?

"The American people deserve the truth about Russia's personal, political and financial hold on President Trump. Democrats will not let the Trump Administration or the Republican Congress off the hook."
