Pelosi to Participate in 2024 Munich Security Conference

February 15, 2024

Washington, D.C. – Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi is traveling to Germany as part of a bipartisan Congressional delegation to participate in the 2024 Munich Security Conference.  In Munich, she will participate in official programming and engage with top officials from allies and partners.

"This year's Munich Security Conference convenes world leaders at a critical moment in the fight between democracy and autocracy," Speaker Emerita Pelosi said.  "Nearly two years since Putin's cruel crusade against the people of Ukraine began, the fight for freedom in Ukraine remains the fight for freedom itself.  At the same time, democracies across the world are under assault by the forces of terror and tyranny.  America’s bipartisan, bicameral participation at the Conference sends a strong statement that we continue to stand with freedom-loving people around the globe — and we will stay in the fight for freedom until victory is won.”

Pelosi continued: "Our transatlantic collaboration on issues of security, economy and governance will be the focus of all of our engagements in Munich.  Under the unifying leadership of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, our transatlantic partnership is stronger than ever.  In the wake of Donald Trump’s dangerous and unpatriotic threat to abandon the NATO alliance, it is imperative that our distinguished Congressional delegation reaffirm to our allies and adversaries alike that our commitment to our NATO allies remains ironclad."

The annual Munich Security Conference is the premier global forum to discuss the most pressing opportunities and challenges to international security.  Last year, Speaker Emerita Pelosi was appointed to the Munich Security Conference Advisory Council in recognition of her long-standing global leadership.
