A Victory For the American People

Pelosi Update

TrumpCare being pulled from the House floor is a victory for the American people, who made their voices heard across the country. These voices weighing in against Republicans' assault on American health care made all the difference in this critical fight.

Former Vice President Joe Biden and Governor Jerry Brown join Democrats in defending affordable health care

The American people rejected TrumpCare by a 3 to 1 margin because the bill would have meant higher costs, less coverage and the gutting of key protections under the Affordable Care Act. Once the American people found out what TrumpCare meant to them, they turned against this moral monstrosity of a bill.

It's time for Republicans to set aside all talk of repeal, and work with Democrats to build upon the strong foundation of the Affordable Care Act in increasing coverage, improving benefits and lowering costs.

My constituent, a refugee, recently contacted my office for assistance with his application for permanent residency. Refugees are required by law to apply for permanent resident status one year after they have entered the United States, and my constituent filed his application in April last year with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). However, nine months had passed, and it appeared the case was pending past the normal processing times of six months. Therefore, my staff contacted USCIS on behalf of my constituent requesting review of my constituent's case. USCIS informed my office that the case was under review. Several weeks later, my constituent received notice that his application for permanent residency was approved. My constituent is now a new, proud permanent resident of the United States.
